Apes Together Strong in New Clip from Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes

The Planet of the Apes franchise is ready to go the sequel-reboot route with Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, but even if Caesar is long gone by this point, his presence is still pretty much felt.

In a new clip from Kingdom, we have tribe of apes repeating Caesar’s iconic “Apes Together Strong” mantra. Check this out:

Though the last Apes movie only had a couple of apes being able to talk, it does look like all of them are now capable of speech. Albeit, it’s still not as eloquent as human speech, but it does give us a feel of just where the apes are at this point in their evolution as a society.

This time around, the new lead will be in the form of ape Noa (Owen Teague) who, like Caesar, will know the value of the humans—who have devolved into a savage species that the apes like to hunt in this time. The antagonist comes inf the form of Proximus Caesar (Kevin Durand) who seems to know all about the technological advancements of humans and is keeping it a secret from the all of the apes.

The world is very interesting science fiction and really goes for the Animal Farm themes of what it means to be human/animal. Hopefully they manage to kickoff a new trilogy of great Ape films with Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes.

Director Wes Ball breathes new life into the global, epic franchise set several generations in the future following Caesar’s reign. Apes are the dominant species living harmoniously with one another and humans have been reduced to living in the shadows. As a new tyrannical ape leader builds his empire, one young ape will undertake a harrowing journey that will cause him to question all that he has known about the past and to make choices that will define a future for apes and humans alike.

Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes is set to come out in theaters on May 8.
