Are the Rest of Netflix’s Defenders Going to Join the MCU Soon?

Marvel Netflix may not be canon, but the MCU is going to be cherrypicking what they want out of the series and reintroducing them with Daredevil: Born Again. With Charlie Cox and Jon Bernthal rejoining the MCU as their Marvel Netflix characters, some are curious who else could be salvaged from that timeline, and Marvel Studios exec Brad Winderbaum has shared what’s been cooking behind-the-scenes. Could the Defenders be in the line?

Taking to Entertainment Weekly about a possible Defenders comeback, Winderbaum explained, “I can’t say much, but I’ll tell you that it’s so exciting to be able to play in that sandbox… But I can just say that all those variables [budgetary and resource-based restrictions] taken into account, it is certainly something that is creatively extremely exciting and that we are very much exploring.”

For context, the rest of the Marvel Netflix Defenders include Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), Luke Cage (Mike Colter), and Iron Fist (Finn Jones)—not to mention other supporting characters including Misty Knight (Simon Missick), Elektra (Elodie Yung), and Colleen Wing (Jessica Henwick).

Though a lot of fans like to look back at the Marvel Netflix era fondly, there are some that remember how much the quality dipped in the shows—especially around the time of the drop of The Defenders. The series were obviously suffering from a mandate to fill up a season with 13 episodes, which resulted in a lot of filler and very little substance.

For now, fans are waiting to see just how much will be changed with Born Again. I’m honestly up for shaking up some of the origins again because I know that not everyone was a fan of how Luke Cage and Iron Fist turned out as characters.

Hopefully Marvel doesn’t paint itself into a corner this time. Daredevil: Born Again is set to hit Disney+ on March 4.
