An Addams Family spinoff like Wednesday may have sounded questionable at first, but the series managed to become the most popular title on Netflix, and the ‘Wednesday Dance’ has swept the internet.
Now Netflix is ready for more of this glum goth avatar, and they’ve announced the incoming second season. Watch this:
We don’t really have any new footage from a second season, but we do have some fun voiceover referencing the meme that’s been going around online. I guess you can count the footage of fans around the world as ‘new’.
While several other spinoffs could barely get off the ground, it was certainly a surprise that Wednesday would get as popular as it is. Maybe it’s just how unapologetically dark the character is; but you have to admit, the dance scene alone with Ortega is enough to get anyone interested thanks to how kooky and creepy the whole things is.
No details have been released for a second season, but hopefully we get more Addams Family moving forward. I wouldn’t even mind a whole new spinoff film.
Here’s the official description for the show:
WEDNESDAY — starring Jenna Ortega in the title role, alongside Catherine Zeta-Jones, Luis Guzman, Gwendoline Christie, Christina Ricci and more — is a sleuthing, supernaturally infused mystery charting Wednesday Addams’ years as a student at Nevermore Academy. Snap snap.
No release date has been announced for the second season of Wednesday, but you can catch the complete first season now streaming on Netflix.
