Kamala Khan may be coming to the big screen thanks to The Marvels, but fans can actually check out her origin on Disney+ with the Ms. Marvel series. The first season was actually well-received by critics, but we have yet to get updates on the second; as it turns out, it will have to depend on the success of the film.
Talking to The Playlist, Ms. Marvel co-director Adil El Arbi says that the second season is waiting on the reception of The Marvels when it comes out in November. El Arbi explains:
“We’re waiting for ‘The Marvels,’ so that will decide what the next step will be… So we’re very much looking forward to that. I can’t wait to see it, man. It’s great to see the trailers and to see the whole family back there and Iman Vellani doing great work, so looking forward to that.”
We don’t exactly know where The Marvels is going to end up, but we do know that the first season of Ms. Marvel does set up Kamala’s origin and ends teasing her special connection with Carol Danvers a.k.a. Captain Marvel.
It’s not clear why the Marvels will find themselves switching places, but fans speculate that it has something to do with Kamala’s bangle that is the source of her powers and could have some kind of cosmic origin.
Hopefully the films set up more solo adventures for Kamala because she definitely is a fun character, and her own side of the MCU also has a great supporting cast. Heck, have her team up with the other youngsters too; how about a Spider-Man cameo or appearance from Squirrel Girl or Gwenpool?
For now, catch the first season of Ms. Marvel now streaming on Disney+.
