While Sony is gearing up for the release of Spider-Man: No Way Home, they haven’t forgotten about their other Spidey property which is set to come out next year. Just in, we have our first look at Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, and it features the return of Miles Morales, Gwen Stacy, and Miguel O’Hara (Spider-Man 2099).
Check out the new trailer for Across the Spider-Verse:
Miles Morales returns for the next chapter of the Oscar®-winning Spider-Verse saga, an epic adventure that will transport Brooklyn’s full-time, friendly neighborhood Spider-Man across the Multiverse to join forces with Gwen Stacy and a new team of Spider-People to face off with a villain more powerful than anything they have ever encountered.
Though the Spider-Verse sequel had been announced for a while, this is the first time we have confirmation that it will be a two-part movie. We don’t know what that implies, but with the Multiverse storylines starting to creep into live-action, we can only expect the animated Spider-Verse to really lean in on the concept; after all, they did start the trend.
Going back to the clip though, we see that there is also a considerable time gap, what with Miles having grown from the last film. It’s also unclear, but it looks like Miles is actually trying to run away from Miguel O’Hara in the clip, but then again, is that Miguel? The build is significantly larger.
We can’t wait to see more of the movie. If anything, it’s kind of stealing some of the No Way Home hype with the promise of an even larger crossover.
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse comes to theaters on Oct. 7, 2022.
