Matrix 4 Gets Official Title; Trailer Dropped at CinemaCon

A lot of people are still ecstatic over the release of the Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer, but WB has dropped a major update on the upcoming Matrix movie.

As per The Wrap, the first trailer for the film was screened at CinemaCon, and it has been revealed that the official title is The Matrix Resurrections. The trailer was not officially dropped, but some descriptions have been making their way online.

The preview apparently has Neo (Keanu Reeves) talking to a therapist played by Neil Patrick Harris and he says that he has dreams of the events of the first Matrix films. Afterwards, he then meets Trinity (Carrie-Anne Moss) in a cafe, and it’s revealed that she has no idea who he is.

There has also been speculation that Yahya Abdul-Mateen II is playing the role of a young Morpheus, and though we have no confirmation, it’s his character that offers Neo the red and blue pill, and before he makes his offer, he says, “Time to fly.”

With The Matrix coming out more than 20 years ago, there’s a whole new generation of fans who have yet to discover the world of Neo and Zion. Though it looks like Reeves is going to be the lead of the film, it would be great if they found someone else younger to be the next lead of the franchise. Then again, we don’t know what Lana Wachowski has in store for the film. Hopefully it will be better than the last two Matrix entries.

Catch The Matrix Resurrections when it comes out Dec. 22.
