After a 2020 with no releases, Marvel Studios is hitting things very close to the chest with their movies releasing a lot closer to each other in 2021. We’re just getting into What If…? and Shang-Chi, and now we have a some new Entertainment Weekly covers to hype the release of Eternals.
Check them out (via The Direct):

Though the film wasn’t able to make its 2020 release date, the hype has been building for the film steadily, especially after Chloe Zhao won the Academy Award for best director for her work on Nomadland. Now Marvel has the luxury of touting that this movie comes from an Oscar-winning helmer; so much for a franchise that has had its fair share of critics that don’t categorize these films as “cinema.”
Marvel head Kevin Feige also told EW:
“The truth is, we would not have even attempted this if it weren’t for Chloé… We thought, here’s a filmmaker who is equal parts cinematic visionary and genre nerd. She can outtalk any of us when it comes to manga and Star Wars and Marvel comics. It’s quite an astounding combination. And this movie, I think, represents all of the immense multitudes of Chloé.”
Though the MCU is as successful as it is, a lot of people are hoping that they could break the formula moving forward—especially after the end of the Infinity Saga. With Black Widow being more of the same, a lot of fans are hoping that projects like Shang-Chi and Eternals could help the franchise break out of its shell.
The Eternals, a race of immortal beings with superhuman powers who have secretly lived on Earth for thousands of years, reunite to battle the evil Deviants.
Catch Eternals when it hits theaters on Nov. 5, 2021.
