Trailer for Lilo & Stitch Promises a Hawaiian Rollercoaster Ride

Lilo & Stitch was originally set to come out on Disney+, but plans changed and the movie is now expected to hit cinemas.

The film comes out in May and Disney has dropped a new trailer featuring Stitch and the live-action Lilo played by Maia Kealoha. Check this out:

Other stars in the Lilo & Stitch live-action movie include Zack Galifianakis and Billy Magnussen who are playing Jumba and Pleakley, and it looks like they’re going to have these hologram disguises as compared to the animated movie where they just had terrible costumes. The Grand Councilwoman is played by Hannah Waddingham and the part of Cobra Bubbles is given to Courtney B. Vance.

Some people actually thought that they should have just brought back Ving Rhames to play Bubbles, but some speculated he was too busy shooting Mission: Impossible movies with Tom Cruise.

Syndey Agudong takes over the part of Lilo’s sister Nani, but interestingly enough, Tia Carrere, who voice Nani in the original movie, is also in the film as Mrs. Kekoa.

I do admit, I was sceptical about the movie, but I think that they managed to make Stitch look even cuter for this film, and you can bet that Disney is already banking on him being a new Baby-Yoda-level merchandising mascot. For all their success on Stitch though, Pleakley’s alien form looks like it needs a bit more tweaking.

Catch Lilo & Stitch when it comes to cinemas on May 23.
