The Sonic the Hedgehog movie franchise has come a long way after it’s disastrous first teaser. One successful redesign later, the film is now looking at the release of a sequel, and we have our first look at a new preview featuring Sonic, Tails, Robotnik, and Knuckles.

The world’s favorite blue hedgehog is back for a next-level adventure in SONIC THE HEDGEHOG 2. After settling in Green Hills, Sonic is eager to prove he has what it takes to be a true hero. His test comes when Dr. Robotnik returns, this time with a new partner, Knuckles, in search for an emerald that has the power to destroy civilizations. Sonic teams up with his own sidekick, Tails, and together they embark on a globe-trotting journey to find the emerald before it falls into the wrong hands.
Besides returning cast members like James Marsden and Jim Carrey, the film has added new voices in the form of Colleen O’Shaughnessey as Tails and Idris Elba as Knuckles. Though we have no confirmation, I think we should expect some more characters to appear in the film to tease even more sequels. My guess is they would like to round-up the whole Sonic gang with the pink Hedgehog Amy Rose; how about Rouge the Bat or Shadow the Hedgehog?
For now, it looks like the franchise isn’t taking itself too seriously, and it’s taking a lot of inspiration from the games, giving us a lava level right out of the retro Sonic titles. Let’s hope the kids love it.
