It looks like the MCU hasn’t seen enough of Trevor Slattery yet.
According to Variety, Ben Kingsley will be reprising the role of Trevor in an upcoming Wonder Man series for Disney+. The part is said to be a major role in the series, and seeing as how Trevor was used in Shang-Chi¸ we can imagine he’s going to be another source of comic relief.
Just in case you aren’t caught up in the MCU continuity, Trevor had played the part of the Mandarin in Iron Man 3 where it was revealed that he was just an actor being used to sell a fake figurehead for a real terrorist group. Years later, he makes his return in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, revealed to be a prisoner of the real Mandarin (or Wenwu), who has been performing weekly plays for the Ten Rings.
While a lot of people weren’t fans of the Mandarin twist in Iron Man 3, I think there has been a growing appreciation for the character of Trevor—especially since Kingsley plays him so great. One second he’s a fictional Osama Bin Laden, and the next he’s a clumsy junkie from Liverpool.
I guess if anything, the real problem with Iron Man 3 was Aldrich Killian, but that’s a whole different story.
Going back to Wonder Man though, the series is said to be Hollywood satire, which is probably the reason that Trevor will be making an appearance. Wonder Man was also an actor and stuntman in the comics, so maybe we would get to see this side of the MCU that’s been poked fun at by The Boys. Does Captain America have a brand manager? Maybe Wanda needs a publicist after Multiverse of Madness?
No release date has been set for Wonder Man.
