Kevin Smith had been planning a third Clerks movie for a while, but it had been having a hard time getting off the ground. With the Jay and Silent Bob Reboot set to release soon, Smith has announced that he’s finally pushing forward with Clerks III!
What’s great is the movie has managed to get original stars Jeff Anderson and Brian O’Halloran back in the lead roles of Randall and Dante. Smith and Jay Mewes are also set to reprise their roles as potheads Jay and Silent Bob. No news yet on who else is returning, but hopefully we get Rosario Dawson back plus some other kooky characters.
Personally, I would love to see a return for Marilyn Ghigliotti. She played Dante’s girlfriend Veronica in the first Clerks and I was kind of bummed that she didn’t return for the sequel. Hopefully we get an update on her character come the third movie.
Though Smith has had a lot of films under his belt, his low-budget film Clerks maintains to be a cult classic. Clerks II was also an amazing follow-up, but it’s been more than 13 years since that film. Let’s hope this third movie doesn’t disappoint.
No release date has been set for Clerks III, but catch Jay and Silent Bob Reboot in theaters Oct. 15.
