Kevin Feige: Don’t Hold Your Breath for an Eternals Sequel

It was back in 2021 when Eternals released from Marvel Studios, and while it wasn’t perfect, it was one of the more experimental films of the Multiverse Saga. Too bad for Eternals fans though, because it looks like they won’t be coming back to the big screen anytime soon.

In a recent talk with Inverse, Marvel head Kevin Feige was asked about a possible sequel, to which he replies, “There are no immediate plans for Eternals 2.” Despite this, Feige does confirm that an upcoming movie—most likely Captain America: Brave New World—is going to be addressing some events that happened in Eternals. Feige continues, “There are, and I think you’ve seen maybe in a trailer we’ve released recently, an acknowledgment of some of those events. Certain giant things came out of the ocean.”

Just in case you haven’t checked out Eternals, the movie essentially reveals that Earth is a sort of ‘egg’ for a Celestial being. The Celestial starts to break through the surface, and the Eternals manage to stop it, but there is the case of a giant celestia body left popping out of the ocean.

Rumors suggest that Brave New World will consist of the governments fighting over the dead celestial as a territory, seeing that it has a new valuable metal on it known as ‘Adamantium’—the same indestructible metal that Wolverine’s skeleton is covered in.

Admittedly, Eternals isn’t my favorite film either, but you have to commend Marvel for trying out something more experimental. If you ask me, the movie wasn’t experimental enough, and director Chloe Zhao should have really gone all out. Just look at DC’s success with their more experimental titles like Joker.

Eternals 2 won’t be coming out soon, but Captain America: Brave New World comes to cinemas on Feb. 14, 2025.
