A lot of fans had raised their eyebrows when a Joker movie was originally announced; and though that movie turned out well, fans were once again left wondering when it was said that the sequel Joker: Folie a Deux was going to be a musical.
Though a lot of fans were expecting some original songs from the movie—especially with Lady Gaga onboard, Variety reports that that might not be the case. Insiders have allegedly confirmed that the Joker sequel will be a ‘jukebox musical’, meaning that it will feature covers of at least 15 ‘very well-known’ songs. There is also said to be room for two original numbers, but so far we don’t have any idea about any of them.
While everyone is already demaning that Lady Gaga would sing ‘Joker Face/Poker Face’ in the movie, it’s said that one song in the musical would be That’s Entertainment from the musical The Band Wagon.
Sources also say that the composer of the first Joker movie, Hildur Guðnadóttir, is also going to be infusing her ‘dinstinctive, hainting [musical] cues’ with each number.
We don’t have anything official released, but the musical genre does seem to be on track for this version of the Joker, seeing that dancing has become his signature to his character; and with dancing going well with music, it wouldn’t be a surprise if Gaga’s Harley would be the songbird to this Clown Prince of Crime.
Then again, I’m just speculating. Until we get more info, all we can really do is guess.
Joker: Folie a Deux is set to release in theaters on Oct. 4.
