It was in 2003 that Jennifer Garner debuted as Elektra alongside Ben Affleck in Daredevil, and she even got her own spinoff film Elektra in 2005. The movie has since been widely forgotten by the fandom, but one upcoming Marvel property is going to be bringing Garner back into the Marvel fold.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Garner will be returning as the femme fatale in the upcoming Deadpool 3 alongside Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman. We don’t have any details on the size of Elektra’s role in the movie, but it would be great if Garner could have a role as substantial as Patrick Stewart’s in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
Though a lot of people did skip out on the Elektra movie, Garner was still pretty memorable in Daredevil. Not only did she share fight scenes with her now ex-husband Ben Affleck, but she also had a training sequence with Evanescence playing in the background, which is a perfect encapsulation of where edgy superheroes were back in the mid-00s.
With Deadpool 2 not being shy about going back and making fun of X-Men Origins: Wolverine, it would make sense that his MCU debut would make fun of previous Marvel properties, with Wade having something snarky to say about everything that came out before Iron Man. Though Fox was the only one who was able to come up with most Marvel properties like Fantastic Four and X-Men, maybe the film could even make fun of Sony’s Spider-Man movies; I’m sure fans would love an Andrew Garfield comeback.
Catch Deadpool 3 in theaters when the movie comes out on Nov. 8, 2024.
