Jenna Ortega had become a mega star thanks to Tim Burton’s Wednesday series on Netflix, and now the two are teaming up again for another iconic Burton property in the form of Beetlejuice 2.
We don’t have any official promotional material for the film yet, but we do have set photos of Ortega in character as Astrid Deetz, the daughter of Lydia Deetz, Winona Ryder’s character from the first movie. Check this out:

The story for the Beetlejuice sequel still hasn’t been revealed, but we can assume that Michael Keaton’s Beetlejuice is going to be the big mistake that Ortega’s character suddenly summons, and it will be up to Lydia to try and help her daughter get rid of him. After playing Joyce Byers in Stranger Things, it does seem like Ryder is getting typecast as a distraught mother from the 80s.
It does seem like the film is going to be set in modern day, but watching Ortega with the stripes riding her bicycle does give off a lot of very 80s vibes—there’s a reason why bikes are so prominent in Stranger Things as well.
The sequel is still set for a release in September, so it will probably be a while before we get to see some official promo material. I would guess that we could get something around the end of the year, but maybe they could release a teaser around March; that’s just my guess.
The Beetlejuice sequel is set for a release on Sept. 6, 2024.
