Jeff Goldblum is Literally Zeus in Trailer for KAOS

There have been adult and kid-friendly takes on the ancient Roman pantheon living in the modern day from American Gods to Percy Jackson and the Olympians—but now Netflix wants to try their own hand at the genre with a series called KAOS.

The show is set to premiere in August, and we have a new trailer starring none other than Jeff Goldblum as the god of all gods—Zeus. Check this out:

As discord reigns on Mount Olympus and almighty Zeus spirals into paranoia, three mortals are destined to reshape the future of humankind.

The series was created by Charlie Covell who was behind the Netflix adaptation of The End of the F***ing World. It’s funny that Goldblum should be the lead of a series called ‘KAOS’ because he had famously played a mathematician who specialized in Chaos Theory in a little movie called Jurassic Park.

Besides Golblum’s Zeus, the series will also feature different kinds of gods and goddesses that live on Olympus. Janet McTeer will play the part of Hera with Cliff Curtis playing Zeus’ brother Poseidon. David Thewlis is also attached to the series as the god of death Hades.

Admittedly, the series almost feels that it’s going to be silly with Goldblum as the lead, but based on what we see in the trailer, it does look like KAOS is going for some kind of religious/existential commentary. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see when the show premieres.

Catch KAOS when it premieres on Netflix on Aug. 29.
