After the success of The Mandalorian, Disney+ is moving forward with several other Star Wars series, one of them centered on ex-Jedi master Obi-Wan Kenobi. While we know that Kenobi will be in the show, we’ll be getting another familiar face from the Prequel Trilogy – Jar Jar Binks.

As per Making Star Wars, everyone’s favorite Gungan Jar Jar Binks (Ahmed Best) is going to be making a comeback in the show. We don’t know much about his role in the overall story, but it’s said that he’ll have a beard this time around to mark the passage of time.

Seeing that there is now a newfound love for Jar Jar now that the kids who watched the Prequels grew up, I’m curious on how the show will try to handle the character, seeing as some people thought he was one of the main reasons why The Phantom Menace stunk.

The new Disney canon even tried to give us an “end” to Jar Jar’s story with Aftermath: Empire’s End, where Jar Jar becomes an old clown on Naboo that’s been shunned by both the people and the Gungans. Seeing as the Kenobi series takes place between the events of Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope, I doubt we’re going to be getting some kind of happy end when it comes to Jar Jar.

Personally I’m hoping the character gets treated right. Despite all the hate when it came out, Jar Jar was beloved by the most important demographic of fans—the kids.

Of course, this is all just a rumor for now, so take it with a grain of salt. It’s possible that Lucasfilm can decide to scrap the story if things don’t pan out.

No release date has been set for Disney+’s Kenobi series.
