Keanu Reeves’ Johnny Silverhand may have been the poster boy for CD Projekt Red’s Cyberpunk 2077, but the upcoming expansion will now have Idris Elba taking the role of V’s new guide.
Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty is set to come out this September, and we have a new trailer showcasing the expansion of Night City and an all-new campaign and cast of characters. Check this out:
The official description reads:
#PhantomLiberty is an upcoming spy-thriller expansion for #Cyberpunk2077. Return as cyber-enhanced mercenary V and embark on a high-stakes mission of espionage and intrigue to save the NUSA President. In the dangerous district of Dogtown, you must forge alliances within a web of shattered loyalties and sinister political machinations. Do you have what it takes to survive?
Though the first game had V going up against major corporations like Arasaka, Phantom Liberty will be bringing us the OG enemy of punks which is the state. We don’t know how much of the NUSA controls Night City, but it’s going to be interesting to see just how bad things are in the belly of the beast.
After the disastrous launch of Cyberpunk 2077, CDPR has a chance of redemption with Phantom Liberty; let’s just hope they manage to fix out all the bugs before the launch. It’s not clear if another season of Edgerunners will bring interest in Cyberpunk again if this fails.
Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty is an expansion that will be new-gen exclusive for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, and it launches on Sept. 26.
