Entertainment History is Made in Latest Trailer for Saturday Night

Saturday Night Live may be an institution in the comedy industry now, but back in the 70s, the series was considered to be a huge gamble for NBC.

Jason Reitman’s Saturday Night wants to tell the story of the crew building up to the first SNL show, and the film is set to hit theatres on October. Just in, a new trailer has dropped which teases more of the actual chaos that occurred on that night.

Check this out:

If you do even a little research on how SNL was conceived, you’ll definitely find a lot of stories of how chaotic it was, from the writers who hated Jim Henson and his muppetts to the actors like Chevy Chase and John Belushi being hard to work with.

Of course, Lorne Michaels is also considered to be a legendary producer nowadays when it comes to comedy, and it would definitely be interesting to see what kind of story he had when he was just starting out with a series that nobody thought would be a hit decades later.

At 11:30pm on October 11, 1975, a ferocious troupe of young comedians and writers changed television – and culture – forever. Directed by Jason Reitman and written by Gil Kenan & Reitman, Saturday Night is based on the true story of what happened behind the scenes in the 90 minutes leading up to the first broadcast of Saturday Night Live. Full of humor, chaos, and the magic of a revolution that almost wasn’t, we count down the minutes in real time until we hear those famous words…

Saturday Night is set to hit theaters on Oct. 11.
