Hellboy: The Crooked Man Once Again Reboots the Right Hand of Doom

Hellboy: The Crooked Man Once Again Reboots the Right Hand of Doom

2019’s Hellboy didn’t manage to launch the franchise that it was hoping to, and while there haven’t been any big announcements for the character on the big screen, Ketchup Entertainment has dropped a trailer for their adaptation Hellboy: The Crooked Man.

Check this out:

Here’s the synopsis:

Hellboy and a rookie BPRD agent get stranded in 1950s rural Appalachia and discover a small community haunted by witches, led by the Crooked Man.

After Ron Perlman and David Harbour, Jack Kesy (Baywatch) is now the face behind Hellboy. It’s also worth noting that the movie is being directed by Brian Taylor who is best known for his movies Gamer starring Gerard Butler and Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance.

I’ll admit, the movie does look very low-budget, but it does seem to be leaning into the horror element that the mainstream Hellboy films have not been able to fully embrace. It also looks like we won’t be visiting classic locations like the BPRD headquarters, and we’ll instead just stay in the rural town as Hellboy tries to solve another supernatural mystery.

With the franchise having no official future in sight, I’m happy to see something come out. Hellboy is a pretty fun character, and I’m hoping he gets that big-budget release again in the future. I honestly think Harbour deserves another chance.

No specific release date has been announced for Hellboy: The Crooked Man, but it is expected to come out sometime this year.
