Game of Thrones may have ended this year, but HBO has a lot of great material in their lineup. Besides Watchmen and the upcoming Westworld 3, we have a trailer for this fun-looking show called The Righteous Gemstones.

This is the official description:
Danny McBride (Eastbound & Down, Vice Principals) returns to HBO with The Righteous Gemstones, a new comedy series that tells the story of a world-famous televangelist family with a long tradition of deviance, greed and charitable work. John Goodman, Danny McBride, Edi Patterson, Adam Devine, Cassidy Freeman, Tony Calvero, Tim Baltz and Greg Alan Williams star.
The show looks absolutely ridiculous, and based on what we’ve seen from Eastbound and Vice Principals, we should expect some over the top shenanigans. Gemstones has managed to gather an amazing cast, and I’m excited to see how the show will tackle the big scam that is Televangelists.
If you want a more real life take on the issue, I suggest you check out this special segment from John Oliver’s Last Week Tonight:
When it comes to shows centred on “villains,” you always have something like a drug lord or a gangster in the spotlight, but I think it’s hilarious that we get to see some televangelists scame people this time around. I mean, they’re also a real thing, but they’re barely the subject of scrutiny since they boast to be men of God.
I can’t wait to see how it all turns out.
Catch The Righteous Gemstones when they hit HBO next month on Aug. 18.
