Clint Barton may not be getting his own movie like Black Widow, but he is set to star in his own series on Disney+. Hawkeye has already started filming, and some set photos featuring Jeremy Renner and Hailee Steinfeld have come out online.

Besides Renner and Steinfeld, you can also see that the two are walking around with a dog. This is assumed to be Hawkeye’s pet from the comics, Lucky a.k.a. the Pizza Dog. Lucky was originally named Arrow and was owned by the Tracksuit Mafia, but after Hawkeye rescues him, Arrow is renamed Lucky; I guess it’s also worth noting that Lucky lost its left eye while saving Hawkeye. The Pizza Dog name stuck when an issue revealing Lucky’s point of view showed that he thinks his own name is ‘Pizza Dog’ as he’s dog who… enjoys pizza.
After months of speculation on Steinfeld’s part, we now have confirmation that she’s cast on the show. Her character already looks interesting and I can’t wait to see how her dynamic with Hawkeye works. With Clint expected to bow out of the MCU soon, it would be great to finally meet his protégé. Hopefully she gets some scenes with the new Black Widow Yelena Belova, who is rumoured to be appearing in the series as well.
No release date has been set for Hawkeye, but the series was expected to come out in the fall of 2021. With the entire MCU slate pushed back, we could get a premiere in 2022, but I guess we’ll just have to wait and see what happens.
In the meantime, fans wait for WandaVision to hit Disney+ on Jan. 15, 2021.
