The Wizarding World may be taking a break from the big screen after the last Fantastic Beasts films, but WB is trying to expand on the gaming options for Potter fans. This September will see the launch of Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions, and we have a new trailer showcasing gameplay and some fan-favorite characters.

ATTENTION future Quidditch stars, it’s time to approach the pitch! Grab your broom, pick your position, and prepare to take flight.
There aren’t that much specifics when it comes to gameplay, but the trailer does give a hint at the different roles and how they play like the chasers and the seeker. I’m guessing if they want to go the multiplayer route, players will have to complete teams which also include beaters and keepers which have their own gameplay loop.
Though the films have only shown to locations where people have played Quidditch—Hogwarts and the Quidditch World Cup—it looks like the game has added some other arenas based on expanded lore from the book. We see that there are pitches for the other Wizarding schools Beuxbatons and Durmstrang, and it’s also been confirmed that you can also play Quidditch at the Burrow—a scene that happened in the books but wasn’t put in any of the films.
While players can create their own characters, they’ve also revealed that they could play characters from the books like Harry, Malfoy, Ron, or Cho Chang. Hopefully the game also includes some non-movie teams like the Holyhead Harpies. It would also be fun to see some players that didn’t get that much screentime including Oliver Wood, Angelina Johnson, the Weasley twins Fred and George, or celebrities like Viktor Krum.
Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions is set to launch on Sept. 3 for PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, Xbox and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store.
