Harrison Ford will Play Thunderbolt Ross in Captain America 4

Marvel fans were introduced to Thaddeus ‘Thunderbolt’ Ross back in 2008 in The Incredible Hulk, but the character had remained dormant until he was brought back in Captain America: Civil War to uphold the Sokovia Accords. Ross is expected to have a more major role with the Thunderbolts movie, but the passing of actor William Hurt has led to some complications. However, Marvel has managed to recast the role with an even bigger star (no offense to Hurt).

/Film confirms that the news from The Hot Mic that Harrison Ford will be taking on the role of Thunderbolt Ross in the MCU are apparently true. Ford will make an appearance as Ross in Captain America: New World Order and will reprise the role again for Thunderbolts. Who knows, with She-Hulk hinting at a Hulk movie soon, maybe we can see Ross come back and torment Banner in a new way.

It’s funny that Ford should find himself in another franchise with crazy fans because he has infamously been grumpy about being asked lore questions when it comes to Star Wars. Despite his reluctance though, fans have kind of embraced Ford’s mood toward his work, and are already laughing at the thought of him being asked about the Multiverse or possibly having to play Red Hulk.

I think the casting is pretty great, and Ford does have the charisma to play a serious person who isn’t afraid to break some rules. Hopefully they write his Ross character to have a more personal arc when he Ford finally gets to debut in the franchise.

Watch out for Captain America: New World Order when it hits theaters May 3, 2024. Thunderbolts comes out the same year on July 26.
