Release Date: Formerly March 16, 2018; now unknown.

Director: There is currently no director attached to helm The Flash. Last spring, the first director, Seth Grahame-Smith left the project, citing creative differences as the culprit. Soon thereafter, Dope’s Rick Famuyiwa was tapped to direct. During SDCC 2017, he appeared on stage at the WB panel as one of the directors of the DCEU. But the good times didn’t keep rolling. On Halloween of last year, Famuyiwa announced his departure. He, too, cited creative differences, since he pitched a version of the film the studio didn’t take to.

WB is reportedly eyeing Back to the Future’s Robert Zemeckis to helm the feature. Kingsman director, Matthew Vaughn is also said to be on the studio’s shortlist.

Screenwriter(s): As far as we know, there is no official word on who’s responsible for penning the script. However, a screenplay from Seth Grahame-Smith was purportedly in use when the second director, Rick Famuyiwa, was brought aboard.

Cast: Ezra Miller (Barry Allen/The Flash) and Kiersey Clemons (Iris West). Because he’s in the most recent Justice League trailer, it’s fair to assume Billy Crudup will appear, as well, playing Barry’s father (Henry Allen). Early last year, Batman v Superman producer, Deborah Snyder teased the possibility of Ray Fisher (Cyborg) also having a role.

Story: About a month before Grahame-Smith left the project, the film was reportedly in the process of casting five key roles. During SDCC 2017, the studio announced the solo will adapt the Flashpoint storyline. What that could mean for the larger DCEU remains to be seen. There’s also no word on how closely the film will adhere to the comic arc.

Rumor and Speculation: Again, before the first director left, The Flash was allegedly on the hunt for the following five roles: Iris West, Eobard Thawne (aka Reverse Flash), Detective Fred Chyre, Leonard Snart (aka Captain Cold), and Jay Garrick the Golden Age Flash. Since said report hit the web, only Iris West has been cast. Depending on whether Grahame-Smith’s script remains in play, several of the rumored characters may or may not play a part.
