Nightwing
First Announced/Speculated: February 2017
Director: Chris McKay
Screenwriter(s): N/A
Cast: Even if the two aren’t on the best of terms, it would be odd if Ben Affleck’s Batman didn’t at least briefly appear. At the time of writing, WB has yet to announce who will play the former Boy Wonder. But McKay has made it clear that hard work and dedication will be his number one priority in casting the character.
Story: The main question here is whether or not the hero’s standalone will be set in Gotham or his own stomping grounds in Blüdhaven. It’s probably fair to expect both, with more attention given to the latter. For now, anything else concerning the film is purely the hopes and dreams of fans. With unsubstantiated reports suggesting Ben Affleck may depart the superhero franchise, we’re all left wondering one thing — Could Dick Grayson’s DCEU debut entail his taking on the Batman mantle? Should that be the case, Jason Todd/Red Hood may also have a role of some sort. Battle for the Cowl, anyone?
Rumor and Speculation: Despite McKay opening up about what he wants in an actor for the role, Nightwing went without mention at SDCC 2017. It could be that the studio won’t say much until Batman’s solo is off the ground.
