A lot of fans are excited to see Sex Education star Ncuti Gatwa play one of the Kens in next month’s Barbie, but he’s also going to be taking the spotlight in Doctor Who, taking over the role of the Fifteenth Doctor (if they’re not counting David Tennant’s return). You know who else is excited about Gatwa landing the Doctor? His fellow Ken star Ryan Gosling.
Talking to Vogue, Gatwa talks about Gosling congratulating him for getting cast as the next Doctor. He says, “I remember Ryan Gosling bounding up to my trailer like, ‘Doctor Who is the coolest show in the world man! I’m the biggest fan.’”
We don’t have any more details on Gosling’s reaction, but there is a photo of him online going around wearing a shirt with Gatwa’s Doctor on it:

Gatwa had auditioned for the role of the Doctor back in February, and he says that he didn’t even think that he would land the part. He explains, “I was just like, ‘There’s no way I’ll get this,’… ‘It’s a British institution and there’s no way they’ll cast a Black man.’ So, I just had fun.”
Now everyone is excited to see just what kind of Doctor Gatwa has in store for a new audience. Admittedly his outfit is a bit plain compared to previous Doctors, but fans have noticed that his Doctor does have a tendency to dress up, which is just part of the fun.
Gatwa is expected to debut as the Doctor later this year, but you can catch him in Barbie when it premieres next month on July 20.
