God of War: Ragnarok Officially Delayed

With E3 2021 set to come back this June, a lot if gamers were waiting for a new reveal for the PlayStation exclusive God of War: Ragnarok. Though there looks like there will be an announcement this E3, it looks like the game has been delayed.

As announced by game director Cory Barlog on Twitter, God of War: Ragnarok has been delayed to 2022. Here’s the post:

So far, it looks like the fanbase seems to understand the reason for the delay. Besides the fact that the team had to undergo the pandemic like everyone else, the botched release of Cyberpunk 2077 has been a cautionary tale that a lot of people are still reeling from.

That being said, though the game has been delayed, the line in the announcement ‘we’ve got some exciting things in the works that we can’t wait to show you,’ seems to imply that there could still be some kind of teaser in the upcoming Electronic Entertainment Expo.

With the 2018 game being such a huge hit, a lot of people can’t wait for the return of Kratos and his son Atreus. While the game had teased other mythologies to tackle, it looks like this sequel will focus more on the Norse myths, and this time, we get to see Kratos tackle Thor. What are the odds that this game will actually have him passing the God of War mantle to a grown Atreus? It’s just a theory, but with The Last of Us getting rid of Joel, maybe GOW is gearing up for someone else to be the mascot of the games.

God of War: Ragnarok is set to come out for the PlayStation sometime in 2022. E3 2021 takes place from June 12—June 15.
