While the third season of the show was not the best, Netflix had renewed GLOW for one last season back in August. What’s terrible is, they’ve decided to reversed their decision and it looks like we won’t be seeing the return of Zoya the Destroya and Liberty Belle.
According to Deadline, Netflix has opted to cancel the final season of GLOW because of the pandemic. Series creators Liz Flahive and Carly Mesch said in a statement:
“COVID has killed actual humans. It’s a national tragedy and should be our focus. COVID also apparently took down our show… Netflix has decided not to finish filming the final season of GLOW. We were handed the creative freedom to make a complicated comedy about women and tell their stories. And wrestle. And now that’s gone. There’s a lot of sh*tty things happening in the world that are much bigger than this right now. But it still sucks that we don’t get to see these 15 women in a frame together again.”
The show had apparently been three weeks into filming before the pandemic hit, and like the rest of the world, they GLOW team waited until it was safe to get back to work again. Apparently, Netflix couldn’t wait, and fans are now left with the cliffhanger ending of Debbie and Ruth possibly starting their own network.
No more GLOW. Sorry. Stinks.

I try not to get too upset about cancellations. But I'm so sad about GLOW, bc I fell for that show the minute I saw the pilot—so bold, warped and goofy, and yet, so emotionally sharp & realistic about the 1980s for women. AND I WANTED TO SEE BETTY GILPIN HEAD UP A TV NETWORK.

Personally, this is a huge bummer for me. I really loved GLOW, and it had a lot of great feminist messages. Hopefully some other network will pick GLOW up (like HBO Max did with Tuca & Bertie). Maybe Netflix will change their mind once the pandemic dies down. Fingers crossed the fans can push a #ReleaseTheSnyderCut miracle.
Catch three seasons of GLOW now on Netflix.
