Ridley Scott is a modern visual auteur, and after years in development hell, he’s finally going to be bringing us the sequel to his hit movie Gladiator. Gladiator II is expected to come to theatres this November, and we have a new featurette covering the massive scale that the film is going for.

Though the first movie was already considered pretty epic when it came to scale, it does look like Scott is looking to one-up himself when it comes to this sequel. It’s twice the arena-obsessed emperors, and it looks like the challenges are going to be on a more massive scale with actual warships battling it out in the arena filled with water.
Paul Mescal has also been a rising star for a while, and Gladiator is sure to put him on the radar of audiences who aren’t so keen on his dramatic projects. Pair him up with The Mandalorian and The Last of Us’ Pedro Pascal, and you have a cinematic clash that fans are sure to line up for.
We don’t know if this is supposed to launch a new Gladiator franchise yet, but after the poor reception of Napoleon, I just want to see Scott having a cinematic win.

After his home is conquered by the tyrannical emperors who now lead Rome, Lucius is forced to enter the Colosseum and must look to his past to find strength to return the glory of Rome to its people.
