With Scream coming out last year, the franchise is ready to get out of the suburbs and into the city with Scream VI. The film is set to premiere in March, and we have a new trailer featuring the new Ghostface.
Check this out:
Here’s the official description:
Following the latest Ghostface killings, the four survivors leave Woodsboro behind and start a fresh chapter. In Scream VI, Melissa Barrera (“Sam Carpenter”), Jasmin Savoy Brown (“Mindy Meeks-Martin”), Mason Gooding (“Chad Meeks-Martin”), Jenna Ortega (“Tara Carpenter”), Hayden Panettiere (“Kirby Reed”) and Courteney Cox (“Gale Weathers”) return to their roles in the franchise alongside Jack Champion, Henry Czerny, Liana Liberato, Dermot Mulroney, Devyn Nekoda, Tony Revolori, Josh Segarra, and Samara Weaving.
With the franchise really leaning in on the meta nature of the movies, it looks like we’re going to be facing another Ghostface fan that’s been following the series since the very beginning. What’s also interesting is that everyone in the movie is kind of aware of all the tropes, so there’s all kinds of expectations that the film could break.
With the last film killing off David Arquette’s Dewey Riley, it’s very possible that we could see another legacy character die in this entry. I’m guessing it’s going to be Courtney Cox’s Gale, but maybe it could be Hayden Panettiere’s Kirby.
I also have to say, it’s going to be interesting to see how Jenna Ortega will be received in the film, especially since she just became a huge star thanks to Netflix’s Wednesday.
Scream VI comes to theaters on March 10.
