We haven’t gotten a G.I. Joe film since 2013, and Paramount Pictures is set to reboot the franchise with Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins. Just in, we have an all-new trailer, and it shows us not just the origin of Snake Eyes, but his rivalry with Storm Shadow as well.

While it has been up for speculation how these movies are related to last two films, this trailer has confirmed that it is going for a full reboot. Besides the recast characters, it has also been confirmed that Cobra is already an organization here—unlike in Rise of the Cobra where it was shown to have branched out of Destro’s MARS Industries.
After nearly a decade, the G.I. Joe franchise is primed for a reboot. With 80s icons like He-Man getting a fresh new look for modern audiences, a new generation of audience members are ready to be introduced to the conflict between Real American Heroes and military snake enthusiasts.
Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins stars Henry Golding as Snake Eyes, a tenacious loner who is welcomed into an ancient Japanese clan called the Arashikage after saving the life of their heir apparent. Upon arrival in Japan, the Arashikage teach Snake Eyes the ways of the ninja warrior while also providing something he’s been longing for: a home. But, when secrets from his past are revealed, Snake Eyes’ honor and allegiance will be tested – even if that means losing the trust of those closest to him.
Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins hits theaters on July 23.
