Netflix continues to push boundaries for entertainment, and they’ve just released their first trailer for the upcoming animated movie, Next Gen.

Check it out:

Here’s the official synopsis:

A friendship with a top-secret robot turns a lonely girl’s life into a thrilling adventure as they take on bullies, evil bots, and a scheming madman.

Interestingly enough, I was able to catch a special screening of Next Gen during Asia Pop Comic-Con 2018, and I can say that it’s a pretty solid film. Sure some parts can get kind of corny, but when it comes to world-building, action, and animation—it’s all pretty topnotch. You can say that the people behind it have a real fascination for robots, and it’s pretty interesting how they conceptualize a future where humans become too dependent on the things.

I mean, even cup ramen needs to have A.I. in this world, and it makes for some fun sequences.

Also, I cannot sell the action enough. Think Big Hero 6, but with definitely more explosions and creative weapons.

The film assembles a pretty impressive cast. John Krasinski is voicing the main robot character with  actors like Michael Pena, Jason Sudeikis, and David Cross filling in for supporting roles. You’ll also recognize the voice of Charlene Yi who voices the main protagonist. Yi is also the voice of Chloe from We Bare Bears and Ruby from Steven Universe.

Catch Next Gen on Netflix Sept. 7.
