First Trailer for Jurassic World Rebirth Brings People into Dinosaur No Man’s Land

After her run with Marvel Studios, Scarlett Johansson is now going over to Universal Studios for a the revival of the Jurassic World series.

Jurassic World Rebirth is expected to hit theaters this July, and the first trailer for the film has been dropped. Check this out:

Here’s the official description for the movie:

Five years after the events of Jurassic World Dominion, the planet’s ecology has proven largely inhospitable to dinosaurs. Those remaining exist in isolated equatorial environments with climates resembling the one in which they once thrived. The three most colossal creatures across land, sea and air within that tropical biosphere hold, in their DNA, the key to a drug that will bring miraculous life-saving benefits to humankind.

Academy Award® nominee Johansson plays skilled covert operations expert Zora Bennett, contracted to lead a skilled team on a top-secret mission to secure the genetic material. When Zora’s operation intersects with a civilian family whose boating expedition was capsized by marauding aquatic dinos, they all find themselves stranded on a forbidden island that had once housed an undisclosed research facility for Jurassic Park. There, in a terrain populated by dinosaurs of vastly different species, they come face-to-face with a sinister, shocking discovery that has been hidden from the world for decades.

Admittedly, the last Jurassic World film Dominion wasn’t considered a critical hit, but overall the movies have been considered box office earners, so it would make sense that Universal would want to keep this ball rolling.

With Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard out of the picture though, it looks like the new leads are going to be ScarJo and Jonathan Bailey—who plays a scientist who wants to collect the dino samples for ‘the future of humanity’.

With Rogue One director Gareth Edward at the helm, I’m excited to see what kind of spectacle Rebirth is going to bring to screen. As long as the kids love it, I don’t really have a high bar for these Jurassic films.

Watch out for Jurassic World Rebirth when it comes to cinemas on July 2.
