The first chilling trailer for Christopher Nolan’s World War 2 film Dunkirk has been released offering a brief look at the action-thriller slated for 2017. Dunkirk is written, co-produced, and directed by Christopher Nolan who is best known for The Dark Knight Trilogy and Inception. It revolves around the Dunkirk evacuation during WW2 where over 300,000 soldiers were pulled from its beaches, after Belgium, British and French troops were surrounded by German forces during The Battle of France.
Filming for Dunkirk began in May and is being shot using IMAX and traditional film stock, which Nolan has stressed the importance of on numerous occasions. Nolan is said to have spent a large proportion of the film’s budget on acquiring vintage aircrafts to destroy for certain scenes and on the reconditioning of warships. The filmmaker is known for his practical approach to filmmaking, using as little CGI as possible so expect most of what’s on screen to have actually taken place.
