It’s been 35 years since the release of the original Beetlejuice movie, and now Michael Keaton is coming back to one of his more iconic roles besides Batman.
Beetlejuice Beetlejuice is set to come out this September, and we have our first teaser with a returning Keaton, Winona Ryder, and Catherine O’Hara. Wednesday’s Jenna Ortega is in this one too. Check it out:
The official description reads:
Beetlejuice is back! After an unexpected family tragedy, three generations of the Deetz family return home to Winter River. Still haunted by Beetlejuice, Lydia’s life is turned upside down when her rebellious teenage daughter, Astrid, discovers the mysterious model of the town in the attic and the portal to the Afterlife is accidentally opened. With trouble brewing in both realms, it’s only a matter of time until someone says Beetlejuice’s name three times and the mischievous demon returns to unleash his very own brand of mayhem
Admittedly we don’t see any of the wacky antics that we know Beetlejuice is capable of, but seeing that Tim Burton is back in the director’s chair, we should expect a lot of very kooky visuals that Burton is associated with.
Besides the cast members that show up in the teaser, the cast also includes the likes of Justin Theroux, Monica Belluci, Arthur Conti, and Willem Dafoe.
The movie is also said to be bringing back some more old-school types of visual effects including stop-motion, but we’ll just have to wait and see what’s in store. I do have to say though, having Beetlejuice come back and have him reference OJ Simpson with his first line is the perfect kind of dark comedic tone I expect from a character like him.
