Henry Cavill is currently set to star in Netflix’s adaptation of The Witcher books by Andrzej Sapkowski, and he’s going to be playing the lead role of Geralt of Rivia. His involvement was just announced last month, but now we have a look at Cavill in full costume shared by showrunner Lauren S. Hissrich.

While some people have associated Geralt’s look more with The Witcher games from CD Projekt Red, a lot of fans who have read the book actually say that Cavill’s interpretation is a lot closer to the source material. Besides that, I’m sure the show will have him look a lot more rugged than his make-up test here.
If I were to have an opinion though, I’d say they should just work on the wig. To me, Cavill looks like some cross between Legolas and a Targaryen from Game of Thrones. At worst he looks like someone from the Twilight movies.
Some have been concerned that Cavill taking on the role means that he has quit playing Superman for the DCEU, but it seems that the report that he has left the role is misinterpreted. I think the more accurate role about Cavill’s Superman role is that WB has no current plans to bring him back onscreen, and that’s why Cavill has the free time to take on The Witcher.
Personally, I love Cavill as an actor, and though his portrayal as Superman has been panned for its characterization, he plays the role pretty well. Here’s hoping that Cavill makes a good Geralt just as he does Superman.
Netflix’s The Witcher has no official premiere date.
