Joker was already a pretty well-contained movie, so it was kind of odd that Todd Phillips would have something in mind for a sequel. Joker: Folie a deux is set to come out in 2024, and we have our first image at Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker in Arkham Asylum.

The photo basically marks the start of production, and is captioned, “Day 1. Our boy. #joker” .
We don’t have any official description for the clip, but based on what we’re seeing, the asylum isn’t going to allow Arthur to hold any dangerous objects, that’s why they decided to have him held down while they shave his face.
Though he’s not wearing the Joker make-up here, the shaving cream does make it look like it’s only half on. No doubt Arthur will find a way to paint his entire face again. I’m curious—will they be sticking to the make-up from the first movie, or will they give him an all-new look for the sequel. I’m sure the latter will sell more merchandise, but we’ll just have to wait and see what happens.
With our first look at Phoenix out of the way, I think a lot of fans are curious when they’ll be able to see Lady Gaga’s Harley Quinn. Though we’re used to the ‘sexy clown girl’ that Margot Robbie’s version delivers, I wonder if Gaga gave some original flair to her version of Harley.
Joker: Folie a deux is set to hit theaters on Oct. 4, 2024.
