Puss in Boots: The Last Wish managed to blow up in the box office, and with the movie coming out in digital, Dreamworks has released the first nine minutes of the film, showing us Puss taking on a sleeping giant, and recounting how he lost his eight previous lives.

The clip pretty much establishes where Puss is in the beginning of the story, being a local hero who battles monsters and gives money to the poor. Things take a turn though, when Puss realizes he’s on his last life, and he’s suddenly stalked by a bounty hunter in the form of the Big Bad Wolf.
While the Shrek franchise has been long-dormant for years, The Last Wish is a pretty refreshing return. Not only do we have some great laugh-out-loud moments, but the film also has a lot of genuine heart, and interesting messages about how to live your life.
Not to mention we get a teaser for the next Shrek movie, but I guess we’ll have to wait and see when that actually happens.
For the first time in more than a decade, DreamWorks Animation presents a new adventure in the Shrek universe as daring outlaw Puss in Boots discovers that his passion for peril and disregard for safety have taken their toll. Puss has burned through eight of his nine lives, though he lost count along the way. Getting those lives back will send Puss in Boots on his grandest quest yet.
