Michael Fassbender may have taken a break from the big screen since X-Men: Dark Phoenix released back in 2019, but it looks like he’s coming back, and he has an upcoming movie with David Fincher called The Killer.
The movie is set to release on Netflix in early November, and we have a new trailer highlighting Fassbender’s meticulous mercenary. Watch this:
After a fateful near-miss, an assassin battles his employers, and himself, on an international manhunt he insists isn’t personal.
The premise does sound a lot like what happened with the John Wick films, but since we know that director David Fincher is at the helm, we should expect something more methodical and dramatic, and not so much action-oriented.
Not to mention, it’s also great that Fassbender is back at the top of his game, acting with an auteur director. With his last films being part of the dying X-franchise as well as the latter Alien films, it’s going to be interesting to see him going back into character dramas. Too bad his film with Taika Waititi, Next Goal Wins, didn’t really get all the buzz it was expected to receive.
We may not be getting a new season of Mindhunter anytime soon, but Fincher definitely isn’t done telling stories of meticulous killers. Hopefully Fassbender manages to deliver, because The Killer is looking stellar so far.
The Killer comes out of the cage on Nov. 10, only on Netflix.
