With the Lucasfilm Games banner having been officially announced, one LFL property that isn’t Star Wars is going to be having an upcoming game – it’s Indiana Jones time to shine.

As announced by Fallout and Elder Scrolls studio Bethesda, they will be releasing an Indiana Jones game under the Lucasfilm banner. Watch the teaser:

They also said this in a statement:

A new Indiana Jones game with an original story is in development from our studio, @MachineGames, and will be executive produced by Todd Howard, in collaboration with @LucasfilmGames. It’ll be some time before we have more to reveal, but we’re very excited to share today’s news!

Admittedly, Bethesda has been teased for only making one type of game with different skins, so it’s going to be interesting to see how they would set Indiana Jones apart from their previous titles like Fallout and Elder Scrolls. It’s also worth noting that the Indy franchise has pretty much been the inspiration behind games like Uncharted and Tomb Raider, so Bethesda better find a new angle or risk being bashed with just making another Uncharted with a different character as the lead.

For now, no release date has been set for the Indiana Jones game, but it’s possible that it could release alongside the upcoming Indy 5 movie directed by James Mangold. While tie-in video games seem to be a thing of the past, I wouldn’t doubt Lucasfilm trying to make them a thing again. Let’s just hope they don’t come with the same hefty price tag that AAA games have.

No release dates have been announced for the Indiana Jones game or Indiana Jones 5 movie.
