Fallout Creators Update on Second Season and Where The Series could End

It didn’t look like Amazon Prime Video had a lot of faith in Fallout when it launched, but the show has come out to be one of the most-watched on the platform. Now development is underway for Season 2, and showrunners Geneva Robertson-Dworet and Graham Wagner give an update on where they’re currently at when it comes to development.

…We are going as fast as we possibly can,” Wagner tells The Hollywood Reporter, “and we’ve got a lot of heavy lifting from Season 1 already done. We have sets, assets, visual effects, that are already done. We are hitting the ground running this season. We’re going to be pedal to the metal to get season two out as fast as humanly possible.”

With the series moving production from New York to California, the showrunners have also explained how much better the locations are going to be now that it’s closer to the writer’s room.

With the world of Fallout being as expansive as it is, fans expect that they could possibly tell stories for multiple seasons moving forward, but depending on the success of the show over the years, the showrunners do hint that five could be their magic number. Wagner continues:

“We’ve talked about three seasons and we’ve talked about five seasons. Given the success of the show, five is suddenly feeling a little more appealing. But the industry is a temperamental thing and we kind of have to go into each season being like, ‘This is our last.’”

Since renewal isn’t always a solid thing, Wagner explains, Our hope is to end every season with a semi-satisfying, semi-open-ended kind of shape.”

For now, the series has ended with Maximus looking to rise in the ranks of the Brotherhood of Steel and Lucy and the Ghoul teaming up to find the leaders of Vault-Tech. It’s very likely that we could just end up back in Lucy’s home Vault 33, but it has also been hinted that we could be going to New Vegas in the next season.

Until we get some official reveals, we’ll just have to wait and see.

No release date has been announced for Season 2, but you can catch the complete first season of Fallout now showing on Amazon Prime Video.
