A lot of Star Wars fans were excited for the release of the first teaser for Obi-Wan Kenobi, but Entertainment Weekly has dropped some new still as well as a cover featuring everyone’s favorite Jedi Knight.
Check these out:
Besides the photos, we also have some details about the show and some new incoming characters. When it comes to Kenobi himself, Ewan McGregor explains, “We find Obi-Wan at the beginning of our story rather broken, and faithless, and beaten, somewhat given up.”
For more Kenobi photos, you can check here.
One prominent character we also see is Moses Ingram’s Reva who is the Inquisitor who has gotten the most screentime in the teaser. If you’re not familiar with the Sith Inquisitors, they made their debut in Star Wars Rebels, and they’re essentially a unique branch of Jedi hunters who are under the command of Darth Vader, who is also said to have a prominent presence in the series.
What’s great is, we also get to see Joel Egerton facing off with Reva in one shot. Though his role was only minimal in the prequels, we should expect Egerton’s Owen Lars to finally shine in this series. Director Deborah Chow says, “Thank you, George, for casting Joel Edgerton as Uncle Owen… That’s all I can say.”
With the series set to come out in May, we should expect another more full trailer in a few months. I’m just hoping that this series manages to focus on Obi-Wan, unlike The Book of Boba Fett which kind of forgot its main character in the latter episodes. Let’s hope Deborah Chow and her team don’t miss.
Obi-Wan Kenobi is set to premiere on Disney+ on May 25.
