Euphoria Star to Play Elvis Presley in Another Biopic

Movie-goers are still digesting Austin Butler’s Elvis Presley performance from Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis, but it looks like A24 is going to be giving us a more artsy take on the story of the King of Rock and Roll.

According to Variety, Sofia Coppola is teaming up with A24 for an adaptation of the bestselling memoir Elvis and Me by Priscilla Beaulieau Presley, Elvis’ ex-wife who was played by Olivia DeJonge in the Luhrmann biopic. Cailee Spaeny (Mare of Easttown) has been cast as Priscilla, and what’s more, the part of Elvis will be played by Jacob Elordi, who Euphoria fans know as one of the most toxic boyfriends to ever grace the screen.

Though the Elvis movie does give us a look at the relationship between Priscilla and Elvis, the film does focus mainly on Elvis’ journey, from his struggle with fame and drugs to his eventual death. With Priscilla, we should expect the story to focus more on Priscilla’s side of things and why she eventually decided to leave Elvis.

While I don’t expect Elordi to be recreating any of Elvis’ performances like Butler did in Elvis, I think they’re going to have him delve into the traits that eventually made Priscilla want to leave. I don’t remember watching Elvis beat anyone in the Luhrmann pic, but Elordi doesn’t really need to get physical to get under your skin—his role in Euphoria can attest to that.

As of now, no release date has been set for Priscilla.
