Elizabeth Olsen, Natasha Lyonne, and Carrie Coon are Estranged Sisters in Trailer for His Three Daughters

Elizabeth Olsen (WandaVision), Natasha Lyonne (Poker Face), and Carrie Coon (The Leftovers) are each very solid actresses in their own right, but the three are teaming up for a family drama set to release on Netflix.

Here’s the first trailer for His Three Daughters:

The synopsis reads:

From writer-director Azazel Jacobs (French Exit, The Lovers) comes this bittersweet and often funny story of an elderly patriarch and the three grown daughters who come to be with him in his final days. Katie (Carrie Coon) is a controlling Brooklyn mother dealing with a wayward teenage daughter; free-spirited Christina (Elizabeth Olsen) is a different kind of mom, separated from her offspring for the first time; and Rachel (Natasha Lyonne) is a sports-betting stoner who has never left her father’s apartment – much to the chagrin of her half-sisters, who share a different mother and worldview.

Continuing his astute exploration of family dynamics in close-knit spaces, Jacobs follows the siblings over the course of three volatile days, as death looms, grievances erupt, and love seeps through the cracks of a fractured home.

Director Azazel Jacobs most recent projects include French Exit starring Michelle Pfeiffer and The Lovers with Debra Winger and Tracy Letts. He has also directed the series Sorry for Your Loss which also starred Elizabeth Olsen.

Going back to the film though, it does look like a very interesting slice-of-life drama with a solid cast. If anything, it kind of looks like a Noah Baumbach movie. Either way, the trio of Coon, Lyonne, and Olsen should be considered the main draw for this film. They are all definitely interesting talents, and it’s going to be great to watch them bounce off each other in this film.

Now I wonder who’s playing the dad? My money’s on him being a famous New Yorker so… Steve Buscemi.

His Three Daughters comes to Netflix on Sept.
