After the success of WandaVision, Elizabeth Olsen is on the track to be one of the major stars of the MCU, and though it’s likely that she would be obligated to stand by her employers (i.e., Disney), it looks like she is supporting her fellow MCU alum Scarlett Johansson in her fight against the Mouse House.
In an interview with Vanity Fair, Olsen shares, “I’m worried about a bunch of things. Not worried on Scarlett’s behalf… I think she’s so tough and literally when I read that I was like, ‘Good for you Scarlett.'”
For context, Johansson was said to have sued Disney over the release of Black Widow on Disney+, with Johansson’s deal saying she would earn a percentage of the box office earnings. With the film coming out for streaming, that means that a good chunk of the audience is taken away from theaters.
In regards to the earnings of Johansson, Olsen said, “… when it comes to actors and their earnings, I mean, that’s just, that’s just all contracts. So it’s either in the contract or it’s not.”
We don’t know how all of this is going to go down yet, but the general consensus online is to support Johansson. Even Marvel head Kevin Feige was said to have been displeased with how Disney handled the entire situation.
For now, fans wait for Olsen’s return as the Scarlet Witch in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. You can also catch her in Wandavision now available on Disney+.
