Zac Efron just pulled of the dramatic performance of his career in The Iron Claw, but he hasn’t forgotten that he can still be a pretty great comic talent.
Just in, Netflix has dropped the trailer for A Family Affair, and it pairs up Efron with Nicole Kidman and Joey King. Check this out:
A surprising romance kicks off comic consequences for a young woman (Joey King), her mother (Nicole Kidman) and her movie star boss (Zac Efron) as they face the complications of love, sex, and identity.
Though the premise of your boss dating your mom feels like something out of The Office, there is also a unique angle in the age difference between Kidman (56-years-old) and Efron (36-years-old). We should also expect Kathy Bates’ character to have some unique voice in the film.
With the success of Anyone But You in cinemas earlier this year, no doubt there is going to be some interest in the release of A Family Affair. Then again, you could argue that Anyone’s major draw was stars Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell; but on the upside, I think there’s definitely a lot of buzz surrounding Efron thanks to his performance in The Iron Claw, and Kidman herself is still a classic old school movie star.
Fingers crossed Family Affair manages to engage an audience unlike Seinfeld’s recent pop-tarts movie Unfrosted which failed to generate buzz despite its star-studded cast.
A Family Affair comes to Neflix on June 28.
