Spider-Man: Homecoming writers Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley were once in line to direct the solo Flash movie for the DCEU, but they have since left the project over creative differences. Though they didn’t land the fastest man alive, they may have found a new project with Hasbro’s Allspark Pictures – the Dungeons & Dragons movie.
As per Variety, the directing duo is currently in talks to helm the Dungeons & Dragons movie which has been in development hell for years. Originally the movie was supposed to be directed by Chris McKay (The LEGO Batman Movie) but he has since left to work with Chris Pratt in a film called Ghost Draft.
We don’t have any details on the approach to the story of Dungeons & Dragons, but with Hasbro, I have a feeling they would want to promote the real life game as well. What are the odds that it’s going to be a meta film focusing on a table of kids playing the D&D? If The LEGO Movie could pull it off, I bet they could do the same with this film.
Besides Goldstein and Daley, the movie also has Brian Goldner and Stephen Davis attached as producers. The script is also said to be coming from Michael Gilio.
No release date has been set for Dungeons & Dragons, but the movie has been in development hell for so long, if Goldstein and Daley push through, maybe we can see something come out by 2022.
