Dune: Part Two has Wrapped Filming

Fans breathed a sigh of relief when a sequel to Denis Villeneuve’s Dune was announced. The movie had been in production over the past few months, and now we have news that it’s ready to start post-prod.

Franchise star Timothee Chalamet has confirmed that Dune: Part Two has wrapped filming, and shared this image of himself with his father Marc Chalamet:

We don’t have an official look at the sequel yet, but the film is set to cover the second half of Frank Herbert’s sci-fi classic Dune. With the first movie having Paul Atreides (Chalamet) joining the Fremen into the desert, we should expect the sequel to have him fulfil the prophecy of the Kwizatz Haderach and take on the Emperor of the known Universe.

Besides returning cast members like Chalamet and Rebecca Ferguson, the sequel is expected to give larger roles to Fremen characters played by Zendaya and Javier Bardem. Of course, we are also expected to meet some new faces in the film, including Florence Pugh who will play Princess Irulan and Christopher Walken who is playing the Emperor Shaddam IV. It’s also worth noting that we’re also going to be meeting the Harkonnen’s golden boy Feyd-Rautha who is going to be played by Elvis actor Austin Butler.

With a release set for November 2023, we might have to wait further into 2023 before we get our first teaser. My guess is we get something six months before release—so maybe sometime around May. That’s just speculation on my part.

Dune: Part Two is slated for a release in theaters on Nov. 3, 2023.
