We may not be getting a Star Wars film by the end of the year, but we are getting an adaptation for the granddaddy of sci-fi—Dune. The movie is still expected to hit its December release schedule, and we have a new still from the film featuring Josh Brolin and Timothee Chalamet.

Check it out:

In the movie, Chalamet is playing protagonist Paul Atreides with Brolin playing the part of Gurney Halleck, Paul’s mentor. In the film, Paul is sent to the sand planet Dune to oversee the production of a valuable “spice” for his elite family.

Diretor Denis Villenueve had this to say about Atreides’ character:

“It’s Paul’s first contact with the deep desert, where he’s mesmerized by it… He has a strange feeling of being home. There’s a lot of action at this specific moment, and [it’s] one of the scenes in the movie that I’m starting to get pretty proud of.”

It’s worth noting that the film will not be featuring the contents of the entire book and will be the first half of a two-part series. Hopefully this time the movie will be a commercial success as well. It’s kind of odd that Villenueve can make critically acclaimed films yet they underperform when it comes to profits. Fingers crossed that the star-studded cast and pop-culture legacy of Dune manages to entice audiences enough to check the movie out.

Catch Dune when it hits theaters Dec. 18.
